Lakshapana falls to be killed by electrocution

The Center for Environmental and Nature Studies (CENS) warns that due to the construction of a private hydro powered power plant above Lakshapana water fall, it has currently faced a threat of being completely dried out.

CENS points out that the construction work of a small scale hydro powered power plant that is being carried out by Sapthakanya Hydro cooper (pvt) Ltd approximately 200 meters above the Lakshapana waterfall is causing damage to the waterfall as the explosions made during the construction work has made the rocks of the waterfall to loosen up. Banks of the Maskeliya River that supplies water to the waterfall has also collapsed due to these explosions. CENS also points out that the cement that get mixed up with the water has created a hazardous environment for the inhabitant fish as well.
